Mr. Burn graduated from the University of South Carolina, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies. After graduation, Mr. Burn worked for several years as a real estate appraiser in the Assessor’s offices of Cherokee and Lexington counties. Mr. Burn worked from 2011 – 2012 with the Law Offices of Richard J. Breibart and established the Burn Law Firm in 2012.
In May 2001, Mr. Burn received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. While attending law school, he served as an Associate Editor for the South Carolina Environmental Law Journal, and he authored a case note in the Spring 2000 edition of that publication. During law school, he was also employed as a law clerk at civil litigation firms, conducting legal research in torts law, contract law and property law, among others.
Following graduation from law school, Mr. Burn worked as the Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable J.C. “Buddy” Nicholson of the Tenth Judicial Circuit. During his clerkship, Mr. Burn’s duties included researching the various legal issues that arise in Circuit Court, as well as assisting in drafting Court orders. He also assisted Judge Nicholson on the bench in the conduct of various trials and hearings, both civil and criminal. After his judicial clerkship, Mr. Burn was employed with a civil litigation firm located in Columbia, South Carolina, from August 2002 to March 2004, when he went to work for the Eleventh Circuit Solicitor’s Office. While at the Solicitor’s Office, he gained valuable experience in bringing numerous cases to trial and effectively managing and prosecuting a substantial criminal caseload. In 2011, he went into private practice, using his skill to advocate for his clients in the criminal and civil courts of Lexington, the greater Columbia area, and throughout the state.
Mr. Burn lives in Lexington with his beautiful wife, Betsy and his two children, Connor and Riley.
